Plastered - Pt 2

Now we have our walls plastered they just need to be 'finished off' and then the cornices will go in place.

Below we are looking back to the living space from our kitchen.

Here we are looking from the dining space over to the living space.

And the master bedroom which looks smaller than it really is. I promise, it's actually quite large.

Plastered - Pt 1

After a week or so of delays our plastering began on Thursday last week, first it was the ceiling which was installed in one day and then on Friday the wet areas were completed. The rest of the plaster will hopefully (fingers crossed) be completed in the next week just in time for our cabinet makers to get going.

Here is the view back to the front door from the entrance hallway.

Our open plan kitchen/dining/living area. Currently looking rather messy, cluttered, and dangerous for small children, hopefully our interior will be slightly less messy, cluttered and dangerous.

Our ensuite including plaster cut-out for the spa. Yeah, the spa, you'll just have to visualise for now though okay.

The laundry. It looks small but it's not really, it will be quite roomy actually.

We are insulated

Our plasterboard is on site and today the insulation was installed in all the walls and a part of the ceiling. The rooms feel 'enclosed' now and the spaces within the house are much more real. Now they can whack up the plasterboard and we'll be looking good.

Above is our main living area looking back towards the open plan kitchen, below is our rumpus.

Yesterday the roof capping was finally in place after the gutters and fascia around the portico were finally sorted out. It seems the builder was 'winging' our custom portico design, so once the brickies had the portico up the roof was shaped around it.

After visiting our cabinetmakers again yesterday to sign off on our kitchen and cabinets we made a few late unexpected changes. The selection blog entry has been amended accordingly and you can see the links to our new selections. Our changes are from a 'Platinum Essa Stone' benchtop to a 'Basmati Essa Stone', we also have been forced to change our main bathroom vanity due to our Laminex being deleted, it's a good change though as we love the new 'Zincworks Laminex' that we have selected and have picked it now for our laundry as well as the main bathroom. Hopefully only a few weeks until we see the kitchen installed according to our cabinetmaker and site manager. Exciting stuff...

Brickwork - check!

Just before lunch today the brickies polished off the last of our portico, now it looks like a house. Notice the precise brickwork on the left that will be left exposed and then the less precise study on the right that will be rendered.

The portico itself has given our builder something to think about as they try to make our roof and gutters fit into the facade correctly. They will get it right because they have to!

The portico will be rendered for those of you that may be wondering.

We also have had first fix of our ducted vacuum installed. My back already feels better just looking at the inlets, and you can just about hear that tiny 'whirr' as the almost-silent vacuum fires up on demand.
